U.C. Berkeley Alumni in Madrid and J.P. Morgan Dec 17th 2008
The kick-off to the Global Economic Forum sponsored by U.C. Berkeley Alumni in Madrid and J.P. Morgan Madrid was a success. Approximately twenty interested attendees, some from a variety of local associations, including the American Club of Madrid, came to the meeting. D. Angel Blanco, Exec. Director of J.P. Morgan, was the speaker.
Mr. Blanco wound his way from the beginnings of the current financial crisis to how the situation currently stands, in a short, concise and clear way. Mr. Blanco had a lot on his agenda that day, but was kind enough to provide the meeting room, the munchies and most importantly a time slot. Many thanks to him.
Special thanks should also be given to Kristine Green, President of the American Club, who quickly and enthusiastically got the word out to American Club members.
The last 20 minutes were reserved for questions and answers. Participants were particularly interested in the venerable banks’ forecasts, but, with the Madoff incident recent news, many were also concerned with how investors would ever again find confidence in the financial system.
The Global Economic Forum is a 5-7 part seminar over the course of 2009 whose objective is to provide close-up financial input from the major investments banks to our alumni and friends.
The participating financial institutions are: J.P. Morgan, Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, William Blair and Goldman Sachs.
Details for the next meeting will be going out soon.
